Honoring Our Exceptional Alumni
Highlighting the transformative power of AfroTechXcel alumni in AI, tech, and community.
Our Girls. Their Results.
1,050 girls have come through AfroTechXcel's doors. These are some of their stories. Every one of them is real, every one of them is from here, and every one of them built something.
Apex
Through AI for Her, we learned by going into our community, identifying real problems, and using the framework we were taught to build something that actually solves them. We spoke to real SME owners. We listened. What we heard was that 80% of small businesses in Nigeria collapse not because people aren't working hard, but because they can't track what they're earning. We built Apex to change that. A bookkeeping tool that calculates sales, manages inventory, and shows weekly performance automatically, simply, for the woman selling in the market who never had access to tools like this before. AfroTechXcel taught us that technology should reach the people being left out. We didn't wait for someone else to build this. We built it ourselves.

FirstAI.d
We built FirstAI.d because we kept asking ourselves: what happens in the minutes before the ambulance that never comes? In Nigeria, in communities like ours, people face emergencies with no guidance, no reliable emergency number, and no way to know what to do first. People panic. They do the wrong things. And outcomes get worse before anyone arrives. AI for Her gave us a framework go into the community, identify the challenge, use AI to do your part in solving it. FirstAI.d guides users through any emergency with calm, step-by-step instructions in multiple languages, finds the nearest hospital, and shares your location with responders. We built it because AfroTechXcel showed us that women building technology for real community problems is not just possible it is necessary.

Revenue Link
Millions of women trade in Nigerian markets every single day and they are invisible to the formal financial system. No credit history. No loan access. No digital record that they exist economically. Revenue-Link uses USSD, no internet, any phone so traders can pay government levies instantly and build a Revenue Score that gives them access to micro-loans for the first time. AI for Her didn't just teach us to code. It taught us that technology must be inclusive, accessible, and designed around the people being excluded. We didn't build this for government. We built it to give market women a financial voice they have never had. That is what doing our bit to solve the SDGs actually looks like.

FeedLink
We are from GSS Zone 4 Tudunwada. We know what it means when a girl comes to school hungry. We know that hunger and learning are not separate crises they are the same one. AI for Her gave us the tools and the permission to go into our community, name the problem we actually see, and build something about it. FeedLink is an AI platform that connects food donors with families facing hunger matching what is available with who needs it, reducing waste, reducing suffering. We chose this problem because we live inside it. AfroTechXcel taught us not to wait for someone else to solve what we can already see.

Protego
Girls in our community face violence. That is not a theory. That is something we see. And when it happens, there is no reliable system to call for help no infrastructure, no record, no proof. We built Protego because we refused to accept that. Protego records immutable evidence the moment danger begins and alerts the right authorities immediately. AI for Her taught us to go into the community, identify the challenge, and use what we know about AI to do our part in resolving it instead of waiting for others. We didn't wait. This tool exists because we built it.

Favour
After going through AI for Her, I am building a tech solution to help survivors of gender-based violence access support safely and quickly. The programme showed me that technology is not distant it is something I can use to protect people in my own community. I am not waiting for this tool to exist. I am building it.

I joined AfroTechXcel as a mother with a family and a career and a quiet feeling that data science was not for someone like me. The programme changed that. Not by telling me I could do it but by proving it, session by session, skill by skill. I am now going deeper into data science and building in a field I once watched from the outside. AfroTechXcel opened the door. I walked through it.

At IWD 2026 "Break the Pattern," 350+ girls presented tools they built to solve the problems they live with hunger, financial exclusion, violence, medical emergencies, market invisibility. These solutions were not assigned. They were chosen by girls who understood that SDGs are not someone else's responsibility.
