Recap: AI for Her – International Women’s Day 2025
On March 14, 2025, AfroTechXcel, in partnership with herPride and The International Award for Young People Nigeria, hosted the AI for Her workshop, an empowering event dedicated to introducing young girls and educators to artificial intelligence.

This initiative aligns with our mission to bridge the gender gap in technology and equip young women with the skills they need to thrive in the digital age.
Hands-On Learning with AI
The workshop brought together 200 girls and 15 teachers, all eager to explore the world of AI. Participants were grouped into teams of five and worked collaboratively using Google’s Teachable Machine to create innovative AI-powered projects.
Three standout teams developed projects that addressed real-world challenges, including:
🔹 AI for Security – A model designed to enhance safety and threat detection.
🔹 Understanding Women’s Emotions During the Menstrual Cycle – A tool aimed at recognizing and supporting emotional well-being during different menstrual phases.
Laying the Foundation for AI Education
This workshop marks just the first phase of our broader initiative to introduce these students and educators to AI. Through practical experience and mentorship, we are ensuring that young girls not only understand AI but also see its potential to drive change in their communities.
As you can see from the pictures above, the girls were thrilled to engage with AI, collaborate on projects, and showcase their creativity. Their excitement and enthusiasm reflect the impact of hands-on learning and the limitless possibilities AI holds for their future.
As we move forward, we remain committed to providing more opportunities for learning, innovation, and empowerment. Stay tuned for the next phase of AI for Her as we continue to shape the future of AI education for young women!
